GOALS: - Cost effective to build
- Efficient to operate
- Reliable (let me focus on beer not equipment or computers)
- Perfect mash temp control
- 2.0 Deg F per minute mash heating rate
- Fast boil and Fast boil cooling
- Maximize SS
- Minimize Plastics
- Minimize fixed plumbing
- Make stand and all parts shippable via fedex (no version 4.0 planned due to another move!)
- Heat exchanger will not have wort in contact with heater element
- Easy to convert between 240 and 120
PROGRESS LOG: 10/20/08 - Went to scrap yard and purchased 3 kegs and 2 soda kegs. All in good shape. Also found one tall stainless 1/3 keg that will make heat exchanger. Total cost: $80 10/25/08 - Ordered all SS pipe couplings from Fastenal. See costs below as this was a complex order. 10/30/08 - Opened and cleaned all kegs. Ready for welder. 11/15/08 - Kegs to welder 11/23/08 - Kegs back from welder (minus one)
